I made a mistake (duplicated a 1099R, thus overstated WH); already e-filed Fed, and mailed CA state. What do I do now?

Already sent tax owed to Fed; state requesting documentation on my WH.  I don't want to go to Leavenworth!

You need to file Amended returns.  They won't put you in jail for making a mistake on your tax return.  You just need to correct it.  Respond to the letter and indicate that you will be filing an amended return.  For instructions on how to file an amended return see:
