I mailed my tax return on February 28. I check status on irs.gov but there is no update my docs were received. how can I know that they received it?

The IRS suggest for you to wait 4 weeks after you have mailed in your return and then begin tracking your refund thru the Where's my Refund site: https://www.irs.gov/refunds. This site is updated every 24 hours and is found to very helpful to verify that they have received it. Once they receive it you can track when they accept it as well.
