I need to change something on my return

If you have submitted your return for efiling and it has been accepted, you can't change it. You must prepare, print, sign and mail an amended return form 1040X. The form will be available in TurboTax later in February.

If you have not yet submitted your return for efiling or have not mailed it or your efiling was rejected, you can make changes to your return before you file it.

If you need to amend your return, DO NOT make any changes to your original return until you start the amended return. Wait until you receive the refund from the original return before you start amending. Amended returns can't be efiled.
