Question

I need to file a return with two W-2s. I cannot locate one of them. Should I file with one and then file an amendment?

there is no good answer. if you file with just one the IRS will soon catch the missing W-2 and change your return or send you a notice requesting you to amend.  you can not file an amended return until the first one is fully processed which means you'll have to wait for the IRS notice. this could take months.  if you don't owe after taking the missing W-2 into account, there is no penalty for filing late.
