The taxes owed on the TurboTax website will not change since TurboTax has no way to know when or even if the taxes owed were every paid.

It will NEVER show it was paid ... it will only show the return as filed.   This is no different from going to a paid tax professional and walking out with a paper return which will never update.   Your only proof of payment is your cancelled check or CC statement.
