Question

I printed a return (did not submit to IRS) - have been told by accountants here in Italy that my husband and I must file seperately. Do I amend, or start anew? Thanks!

You do not amend a tax return that has never been filed. You can clear and start over if you have not paid or registered: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2586254-using-clear-start-over-in-turbotax-online

If you can't clear and start over, you can delete the person listed second on the tax return you already completed and change all the other information on the return for married filing separately for the spouse still listed.

You would then need to create another account for the spouse that was deleted from the original return that you prepared and prepare a MFS return using that account.

Are you confident the accountants in Italy are giving you sound advice regarding the need to file Married Filing Separately tax returns?
