Question

I received interest on my tax refund this last year. What form do I need to wait for for the interest payment?

You should get a Form 1099-INT from the IRS for the interest on your federal tax refund. They might not send the form if the interest was less than $10. They should send the form by February 1.

If you know the exact amount of the interest, you don't really need the form. You can enter the interest as if you got the 1099-INT, even if you didn't get it yet. But the IRS is not going to start accepting 2020 tax returns until February 12. There is no advantage to filing before then. So you might as well wait for the 1099-INT.

You report it as a 1099 Int and put the amount in box 1.
