Question

I selected for my refund to be deposited into my account but the irs said they mailed a check what happened..?

I filed 3 weeks ago and it should have been here by now but the irs said they mailed it yesterday why did it not get directly deposited like I chose and entered my information on turbo tax?

This usually happens for 1 of 2 reasons.


1. When they tried to direct deposit the refund, they couldn't verify the bank or te deposit info (account/routing number was incorrect)


2.there was some type of offset implemented. This could be something like student loans you owe or some other penalty that wasn't paid.


This might not be the reason, but those are the top 2 I can think of.
