Im assuming i have to ammend but if I do other tax sevices and send one in is there a chance the right one will beat the other on feb 12 and all that?? I just dont want to miss the credit but also no wait for the amended return either. I know my own fault no one elses but just seeing if maybe one is faster than others or will the IRS reject the first one because it doesnt included my 1098T or what?

Well you have to wait until the IRS opens on Feb 12 to see if they Accept or Reject your efile.  Never heard of anyone doing another return somewhere else to see which one gets accepted first.  If you do that keep us posted how it turns out.

I did it and will do. One is 3 days older, the wrong one of course, but I wish the IRS would reject it because I left the 1098T off of mine just like they would reject it if I probably left my 1099G off of it. Idk I have a meeting with HnR block this wednesday too so ill get better answers from them also.

Not reporting the 1098-T doesn't have the same effect as not including other tax forms.

Additionally, even when a Taxpayer leaves off an important form, such as a W2, often the return is accepted. Later, when the mistake is caught, the IRS will send the Taxpayer a letter and/or audit the Taxpayer.

If your 1098-T shows more expenses (Box 1) than scholarships (Box 5) the IRS will not flag the return. The IRS is doesn't go out of their way to find Taxpayers refunds, they are more concerned with collecting taxes.

Once your return has processed, you can file an amended return and include the 1098-T.
