I've already efiled my return & it was accepted by State & Fed but I noticed I made a mistake. Can I amend return to change itemized deductions to standard?!

Submitted wrong number for itemized deductions (without double checking, while rushing) and now they're requesting proof so I just want to switch to standard deductions to cut out trying to obtain all the paper work which could take months.

Yes, you can amend your return to switch to Standard Deduction. You will have to file an amended return (1040X) to make changes. The IRS will only accept amended returns via mail.
