I’ve just got a SC dept of revenue paper that says tax yr 2018 do I need to show this on this yrs tax return?

This is reporting your state tax refund. If you itemized last year, you were able to deduct state and local taxes. If you received a refund, this is now taxable income. To add this to your return, under the Federal menu on the left, choose Wages & Income. Expand the menu for Other Common Income. Click Start/Revisit next to Refunds Received for State/Local Tax Returns. Enter the information from your form. You only need to report this income if you itemized in tax year 2018.
