Question

I've used TT for > a decade and e-file returns every yr via TT. TT shows my pmt for '21 e-filing but claims not to have a copy of my '21 return. Anyone else?

My email hasn't changed in over a decade. Also tried the TT help suggestion of possible multiple Intuit accounts. Found everything but the returns themselves.

You can access your return by logging in using the same TurboTax account that you used to file your previous return. Please see How do I view, download, or print a prior-year return? for instructions.

If you are still unable to access your 2021 tax return, please feel free to contact Customer Support so you can speak with a TurboTax representative who can assist you.

Thanks Monique, the customer support links push me to a PLUS service area which looks like a paid service. When I click on the PLUS link, the screen blanks.  If I could just speak with a person I think it would help.  It seems like the issue is on the TurboTax side. Here is why I make that claim:

TurboTax's website has a record of my purchasing the software as well as purchasing e-File for 2021.  Additionally, I have four update emails from TurboTax last year dated 4/12/2022 saying that my Federal and State e-filing has been accepted, and this is corroborated when I log in.

But when I click on the 'Your tax returns & documents" link, the TurboTax site returns the message: "It looks like you didn't file with us in 2021."  This is linked to the same email account I've had for years, which I use for TT login and is the same email that TT used to send e-filing status last year.

Can you please clarify, did you use TurboTax Online to complete and file your returns or TurboTax CD Download software?

If you used TurboTax CD/Download software to complete and file your returns, then TurboTax would not have a copy as your tax return would be stored locally on your computer or storage device. To locate your tax data file on your computer, please see the below help articles depending on your operating system.

You can also request a copy of your tax return from the IRS, however, if you have an immediate need, you can get a copy of your tax transcript from the IRS. See How do I get a copy of my tax return or transcript from the IRS? for more information.
