Solved

I want to review my actual forms as I complete my return. This was possible the last 8 years. New program sucks.

The Online version has never had Forms Mode.  That is a popular feature of the desktop products (CD/download.)

Did you choose to use the Online version this year, or did you buy and install a desktop product, but then used the Online version by mistake??    If so, you can move your data file to your computer to continue it there.

In the Online version you can review the Form 1040 at any time for free (but not other forms), or you can pay in advance and then can view/print all the forms at any time, but you can't directly edit on them.    Only the desktop version has Forms Mode, where one can actually view and edit on the forms.

You can preview the Form 1040 at any time for free.  Here's how:

  • With the return open, click on MY ACCOUNT at the top, then TOOLS.
  • Then choose "View Tax Summary".
  • At the top of the Tax Summary screen there is a tab-link to "Preview Form 1040."

To pay in advance to view/print your Form 1040 and other forms at any time:

  • With the return open, click on MY ACCOUNT at the top, then PRINT CENTER.
  • Choose "Print/save/preview this year's return."
  • It will then prompt you to pay by credit/debit card.  Once paid, you can view the forms at will.
