Question

I was audited for my 2015 federal tax return; despite sending in required proof at least 6 months ago, I still have not received my refund. Do you have any suggestions?

Should I get a lawyer? Is it possible that the IRS should have to pay me interest once they do release my refund? Can I even file my 2016 taxes if my 2015 taxes are still not resolved?

It depends on What  the issue was and What proof did you provide.

They audited me because my reported income did not match the income reported by my employer, which is a whole other issue.  The whole reason for audit was wrong......the chart they sent me was not accurate, BUT I still sent in all required proof including proof of income, HOH status, dependents, property tax info, etc.  I really think their automated flagging system flagged me for audit based on wrong information on their end, but I'm the one still waiting.......
