Question

I was told to amend my state tax return via email by turbo tax to claim tuition and fees. Why does my federal tax return have to be amended as well?

After I was done amending my state tax return and getting ready to submit my amended return. Then I see they are asking me to send in an amended federal return by mail. why?

Federal returns are only amended by mail. No e-filing of form 1040X.
