There is nothing you need to change. You can use your own desktop download software to prepare your daughter's tax return. With desktop software you have always had the ability to prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and their state returns for yourself or various family members.

Desktop download software and online software are two completely different platforms. Desktop download is used from your own hard drive and all the files are stored on your own hard drive. Desktop software enables you to prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and the state returns that go with them.

Online software is web-based and all of your information is stored online.

When you use Online TurboTax, you get one return per fee. Each return needs its own account and user ID. If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, you overwrite the first one and lose it forever. Do not use your own online account for your daughter. Create an account and user ID for her.
