Question

If I am owed a refund on my GA state return but miss the filing deadline will there be a penalty fee?

Apparently not.

 

Georgia says that the penalty for late filing is "5% of the tax not paid by the original due date, and an additional 5% for each additional month the return is late".

 

5% of zero (a refund means that you don't owe tax) is zero.
