If I didn't check box 18 on Schedule A, Itemized deductions, will the state still accept my return or will I have to do an amendment?

I didn't check box 18 on Schedule A, Itemized deductions that says: If you elect to itemize deductions even though they are less than your standard deduction,
check this box . Will the state still accept my return or will I have to do an amendment?

By not checking that box, you are choosing to use your standard deduction instead of your itemized deductions. So, your state will accept your tax return, but will likely use the standard deduction as opposed to your itemized deductions.
