Question

If I have mailed state return and they have requested additional documents that I have already input into turbo tax, can I still e-file?

Clearly you have already filed your state return if they have received it and they are asking for more information.  No, do not confuse things by e-filing now.  Provide the state with the information they have requested in the manner in which they requested to receive it.
