If I received a notice of amount due from my state do I have to amend my return? They changed some of the amounts on my return?

I filed state returns in different states, received  a notice of amount due and some changes to the return. This resulted in amount owed not refund. Paid amount due but now I don't know if I have to amend my return.

Generally, if the state makes the change to your return and sends you a tax bill, an amended return is not required.  The notice that you received should tell you whether or not you need to also amend the return.

You might want to amend it for your own benefit just to be sure that you agree with their changes and to have it for your records.
