For Federal, you do not send in your original return, the IRS already has a copy of your original return.

When filing an amended or corrected return:
  • Include copies of any forms and/or schedules that you're changing or didn't include with your original return (ex. W-2, any Schedules, 1098 or 1099 forms)
  • To avoid delays, file Form 1040-X only after you've filed your original return & it has been fully processed.
  • Allow the IRS up to 16 weeks to process the amended return.

If you have a State amended return, you would need to check your States website for their list to send in with an amended return.

No, you don't have to include the original return. According to the IRS: "When filing an amended or corrected return: Include copies of any forms and/or schedules that you're changing or didn't include with your original return.

If you used TurboTax Online, simply log in to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.” If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.” You must file a separate Form 1040-X for each tax return you are amending

Filing an amended return i FREE if you filed the original with TurboTax.

No. You do not need to attach your original return. You need to attach any documents related to the changes.
