If I started out filing as an independent, How can I change that to filling as a dependent? I had forgotten that My Father paid for my tuition last year.

He is claiming me as a dependent because of my tuition in spring 2020. I am afraid I will mess up his taxes by filing as an independent. How can I change this?

You can cha change your filing status in your personal information section. 

To change your filing status in TurboTax Online:

  1. Go to "Personal Info" at the top of the page.
  2. Select "Edit" 
  3. Select the status that applies to you.
  4. Answer Yes to the question Can someone claim you as a dependent? 

Before you change your status, I recommend you to ask your father whether did claim you as a dependent  or not.
