Question

If my tax return is late due to the IRS, will it still come back to me through turbo tax?

I filed my taxes back in February but because they needed more information, that I have sent, my return is late. I am waiting to receive my refund based on the 8 week time frame the IRS gave me over 8 weeks ago. Will my refund still electronically deposit via turbo tax?

Your refund will come to you by whatever means you chose when you filed your tax return,

If you requested to pay your Turbotax fees from your refund, that means that your refund would be sent to a third party bank to open a temporary account in your name, deduct the fees, and send the rest to your regular bank.  That means the IRS doesn't know your real bank info, just the third party bank, so that process still has to happen--whenever the IRS pays your refund, it will go to the third party bank, who will send it to you.

If you did not use refund transfer to pay your fees, then your refund should come by the same method you requested -- either direct deposit, or a check in the mail.  However, in some cases, the IRS may mail a check even if you select direct deposit.

You may be able to call the IRS (if you can get through) and cancel your direct deposit to get a check in the mail.  However, the IRS will not accept telephone or written requests to change to a different deposit account.
