The 6.15 does not have a dollar sign next to it.

Yes. It appears to be the state unemployment insurance. Some, not all , states actually charge employees a rate of tax against their wages for unemployment insurance.  It's usually a very small percentage which is why your figure is low. In Pennsylvania (PA) for example the rate is .06% (or .0006) which would be $6 for an annual salary of $10,000.

SUI =  State Unemployment Insurance

A mandatory tax that is past on to the employee.  You can classify it as a mandatory income based tax for itemized deductions. When you enter your W2, the program will prompt you as to what this entry represents.

In Box 14, if your state is one that charges this tax, then you should be able to select it in the dropdown (see image below). If it is entered correctly on the W-2 there is no need for further action.  TurboTax will automatically carry it to your itemized deductions. If you do not enter it in the W-2 or it's not being reflected you can do a manual entry using the steps below.  Do NOT do both.

This is a deduction for itemized deductions if you use this instead of the standard deduction.

  1. With your tax return open, search (upper right) inside your program for taxes paid. > Press enter
  2. Select the Jump to link at the top of your search results. This takes you to the Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid screen.
  3. On this screen, select Start or Update next to the appropriate topic under the heading which applies to your situation:
