Hi there!

Already e-filed a Federal Tax return and realized that I used the incorrect street number for my address. The return has already been accepted by the IRS and I am expecting an electronic refund to my bank account. Any advise on the next steps, if any?

Thank you!

If the address on your return is incorrect it can hot be changed without contacting the IRS

    • You can contact the IRS directly to update your address (you can use their toll-free number: 800-829-1040).
    • You can also fill out Form 8822 and mail it to them.
    • If you are using direct deposit, your refund won't be affected, but you may not get important correspondence from the IRS if you don't update your address.
