Question

irs stimuls was so fast - it missed our lower 2020 taxes we filed and was based on higher 2019 taxes. they crossed paths. How do we get the difference?

We filed our 2020 taxes which allowed us to get the stimulus money. HOWEVER, the stimulus check came before the 2020 taxes were processed, and the amount was based off a higher income amount in 2019.

Should we send in an amended tax form asking for the difference in stimulus money?

should we be patient and see if the error is caught and righted in the next few months?

we don't want to wait till next year . . .  anyone know of any other options?

thanks!

NO, do not file an amended return.

The IRS has addressed this situation and will send the additional stimulus once the 2020 return has been processed.
