IRS Withdrawal NOT approved

Allowing the IRS to deduct from my checking account WITHOUT my permission is wrong. Getting the run around about how to file a complaint only makes it worse.

This maybe the last year I use this program to file my taxes.

Thank you for this information. It appears they offer limited services - with issues directly related  to the IRS. This is not an IRS issue, it's a Turbo Tax software/programming issue.

    @Itzme

"Direct debit" and "I'll mail a check" are -- or should be -- mutually exclusive options.

If your tax was withdrawn, you probably thought you checked the other option but didn't.

Turbo Tax does not see or have access to any taxpayer's account information. Only the taxpayer can provide and authorize a withdrawal.  This would be an option you would choose while preparing your taxes.  To inquire further please contact the IRS.

How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

I may have entered my information, then the lengthy disclosure pops up. I did NOT agree to the disclosure, and thereby I did NOT approve that Turbo Tax forward my information to the IRS. This is not an IRS issue, it is a Turbo Tax programming issue. The IRS is counting of Turbo Tax to abide by the consumers answer.  I did not click the box to agree to the terms listed. Who do I speak to within Intuit/Turbo Tax to look into this issue?

If you file your taxes using Turbo Tax, you agree to have your information sent to the IRS.

This FAQ will provide you with the steps to contact an agent.

Every year I feel as though this will be my final year using the program.  I started when it was like 20 separate disks to install it.  And had all these annoying coupons to mail it to get a small rebate.

I've written my local representative etc.

I don't understand why the IRS isn't required to provide the software.  They provided the paper forms and yet somehow they've been able to avoid the mandate of the Paperwork Reduction Act which required gov agencies to get on the electronic wagon.  It's gotten where we pay for the software, we pay to get a refund, we pay to pay our taxes.

Come next January I'll be buying TT again.

The IRS does provide software and it's free if you file the Simple form.

I think the IRS only provides links to software PROVIDERS -- such as Turbotax etc.  Generally these are only online.  I've used them for a family members who have simple returns.  But you have to keep your private data stored with the provider.

How many of us haven't filed simple returns for 50+ years?

The IRS also provide PDFs to download and fill in but you have to do the calculations yourself.  The IRS is not providing the equivalent of filing with paper.   You might as well file it on paper rather than use these PDFs/

They IRS is  relying on a whole outside industry to provide software.
