Question

Is anyone else noticing that the State of Colorado tax return is in a pending status nearly a week after completing via TurboTax?

The pending status means that your state return hasn't been accepted or rejected yet. Some states start processing e-filed returns at the same time as the IRS, but CO didn't until February 12th.

Please see the TurboTax article Why is my state e-file still pending?  Link to Check my CO refund.

Yes, turbo tax indicates my state return was approved and accepted, however when I login to my Colorado.gov/revenue account reflects the return still in processing. Go figure!

There is a difference between pending and accepted and approved.  You should not see a status of approved in TurboTax.  TurboTax stops having information once your return is accepted.

Colorado has advised taxpayers to give 2 weeks from the 12th before they start checking the status of their refund.  They have a backlog due to so many people filing returns prior to them being prepared to accept the returns.  Colorado State Tax Return Delay

Some sources are now saying it may take 3 to 4 weeks.

Basically, this means that TurboTax, along with every other Tax software company, put every one's CO return in the "electronic mailbox"  CO was not totally ready and so the "mailbox" is clogged up because they had over a months worth of "mail" in their box waiting for them that came in all at the same time from probably half of the 2.5 million people who file returns in CO through different tax software programs.  So, they keep having to unjam the "electronic mailbox" before they can accept more.  When TurboTax shows it as Pending, it does means, it has been sent to that electronic mailbox and then it is just waiting for the state to "sort through their mail".

Yes!!

Okay I thought it was just me, I was worried.

I submitted my return on January 31st, and it is STILL pending today when I went to check it again.

Everything I read online says it should take 24-48 hours to process,so I wonder what is going on with that?

Have you found any reason why they are delayed or something?

Just an FYI , this thread originated in 2024. But yes, my CO return is also pending this year for over a week - in 2025.

Yes same here for '25, the state website doesn't even register it as being received. I think they're a bit slow.
