Question

Is there a number to call to see if there is an offset to my STATE tax refund? This is for South Carolina.

The status on the SC DOR website stated that the refund was in process. Now for 3 days or so it says to call to discuss status. I called earlier this week and was told that the amount was approved but no issue date had been given for refund.

Is SC just being particularly slow this year? I have already received my federal return within one week of filing.

It sounds like you've gone through the correct measures for finding out the status of your State Return. If there is an offset, you should receive a notice by mail concerning the issue. For more information and a South Carolina offset contact number please see link below.

You can check your refund status by calling the SCDOR at 803-898-5300 or 1-844-898-8542 or checking on MyDORWAY . Amended returns and back year filings may take additional time to process.
