You can check that your return was received by the taxing authority using these instructions: Check the Electronic Postmark of your Return. Pay close attention to the separate lines for Federal and State. They are separate statuses.

I did check the electronic postmark. It is dated April 15 but is still in pending status. Is the IRS that backed up in receiving e-file returns on the 15th?. A friend of mine did theirs on April 17 and it was accepted by the IRS within about 90 minutes of e-filing using TTax online. I'm confused.
