Is there a tax computation included with my filed return which was accepted by IRS but they changed the tax?

The IRS will send you a letter to explain what they changed and why.   Did they reduce your refund for back tax owed or child support owed?     What does it say on the IRS refund site?

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

How much was the difference between the amount you received and the amount you expected?   Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  

When you choose "refund processing"   TurboTax gets its fees when the IRS releases your refund.  Your refund goes to the third party bank.  The bank takes out your fees and then that bank sends the rest of the refund to you.

What is Refund Processing Service?

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

The IRS calls everything a computation error. That doesn't mean that the tax computation was wrong. They probably changed something else on your tax return that affected the amount of tax. Read the entire IRS notice carefully to see everything that they changed. What are all the things that they changed?

What is the notice number or letter number, starting with CP or LTR, at the top right on the IRS notice?
