Question

Is there an option in TurboTax to correct a state return after I e-filed my federal return?

I e-filed my federal return but was opting to mail in my state return. Upon review, I found an error (a line got messed up in PA Schedule D). Everything is fine on the federal return.  I logged back into TurboTax to correct the mistake, but I'm not seeing the option to revise my state return. Clicking "Amend (change) return" opens a message, "It looks like your federal return can't be amended right now." There is no mention of the state return.

I "think" that you can use the method outlined in the TurboTax FAQ linked below to re-open your return.  DO NOT make any changes to your federal return.  However, you should be able to make the changes to your PA return and then print for mailing.  Please post back if you have further difficulty.

How can I access my return after I've e-filed or printed it?

Thanks @Kat11_2! That did the trick!

If anyone on the TurboTax UI/UX team is listening in: Changing "Add a State" to "Add/Edit a State" would go a loooooong way in helping customers find what they're looking for.

@desteini I agree that using the "Add a State" isn't intuitive (no pun intended).  This has been discussed, but this is how TT continues do it.  Just glad you got your return taken care of!
