Is there any way to download my w-2’s from turbo tax? I’ve already submitted my return and everything, but now I need a digital copy of my w-2’s for financial aid. Can I get them here?

TurboTax does not have a copy of the W-2 or Form 1099.  It would have W-2 and Form 1099 worksheets that included the tax data from the forms that were entered.  The worksheets would be included in the PDF of the tax return in the tax year the return was completed.

Copies of a Form 1099 would have to obtained from the issuer of the form.

If you cannot obtain the W-2 from your employer, then for a fee you can get a complete copy of a W-2 from the Social Security Administration - https://faq.ssa.gov/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=3836

You can get a free Wage and Income transcript from the IRS - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return to include copies of W-2's, if you mailed the tax return and included a paper W-2, from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

See this IRS Tax Topic - http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc159.html

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and Click on Add a state

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

So even though W2s are often uploaded to TurboTax, TurboTax doesn't keep copies of those W2s? It just pulls the data off them and then deletes the digital copy?

TurboTax does not receive a copy of a W-2.  Only the tax data that is on the W-2 is imported into the TurboTax program.  A copy of the W-2 can only be provided by the employer.

Thank you for the reply. I find it curious, though: My returns for 2017 and before have the W-2 included, but 2018 does not. Is this a change to the way TurboTax works going forward? If so, I'll make a point of saving the W-2 separately, since that's arguably the only essential tax documentation for other purposes.

No.  Turbo Tax never had your W2s even for prior years.  Only the info you imported or entered manually from them.  You need to keep your own original W2 or ask your employer for another copy.

What you have is a W2 worksheet.  Do you need to print all the worksheets for 2018?  Try printing from the Print Center

Log back in your TurboTax account and "add a state" to open the return back up (you are not really adding a state, just to open it back up), then

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.

Then click on Print Center.

Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

See this answer on how to open your return and print all the worksheets.  It has a screen shot.

You need your 2018 AGI to efile 2019. The AGI is on 2018 1040 line 7. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.

How to find the AGI.

If you didn't file 2018 or filed it later in the year then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.

@Daniel 150 - by copies, do you mean  copies of the check? Turbo Tax wouldn't have that, but your Bank would.

did you try printing off a copy of your IRS transcript? the refund will show on there...
