Is there anything I can do about this return? "Your amended return was received on May 04, 2021. However, it has not been processed. We apologize for any inconvenience."

My amended return status states the following:

"Your amended return was received on May 04, 2021. However, it has not been processed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx, extension 623, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will need a copy of your amended return."

Should I bother calling? Can I indicate this on my 2021 tax return in any way? Thanks.

No you do not indicate anywhere on your 2021 return that you amended 2020 and are still waiting for it. There is no place to put that. Each tax year is separate. Sorry, but it has been taking the severely backlogged IRS six months or more to process amended returns.

That is another reason to WAIT before you file 2021----make sure you have everything on your 2021 return complete and accurate so you do not end up having to amend again. Do not rush to file 2021.

Thanks. I figured that was the case but I wanted to be sure. I submitted it because of the change to how unemployment was taxed part way through the year (at TurboTax's suggestion). It's really just bonus money for me, but with how much things are costing right now anything helps!
