Question

It has been two months since I filed my return via mail. Should I consider refiling if I still haven't received my refund?

I sent my refund via mail on Feb 18th, but the IRS tracking website continues to show that they can't provide information/updates about my refund. I'm starting to wonder if my documents were lost in the mail. Should I resend them to be safe?

No. Per the IRS:

COVID-19 Mail Processing Delays

It’s taking us longer to process mailed documents including:

  • Paper tax returns, and
  • All tax return related correspondence.

We are processing all mail in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or call the IRS....

Expect extended delays if you mailed your return or responded to an IRS Notice.
