It won't let me change the status to deceased to file my aunts return

personal info does not give the option to change to deceased

Deceased is not a marital status or a filing status. Go back to the very beginning of the personal info section, where you enter the name, and proceed through the questions. You will come to a screen that asks "Do Any of These Apply?" and has a list of check boxes. Check the box that says "Passed away before filing this return." Then you will be able to enter her date of death. Her marital status is whatever it was just before she passed, and her filing status will be whatever it would have been if she had not passed away.
