It has been more than 5 days and both my federal and state returns are still pending.

I removed your attachment, since I don't know if it had any personal info or not.  This is a public forum.  Even if it was OK, it's not needed.  We know what you are asking, but I don't know why the status of your efiled returns is still pending, and I don't think anyone will be able to tell you the exact reason, other than that it happens occasionally.  The state return cannot do anything, however, until the Federal return is accepted.  Once the Federal return is accepted, then the state return starts its own pending period.  Currently it's pending only because the Federal is.

Keep watching the thread and see if anyone has any other comments.   You can monitor the status with this tool to see when it changes from "pending."

Mine took four days and eventually returned rejected on 3/28/19 because of the bank withdrawal date I picked. Frankly, first time it ever happened to me. Re-doing a review in TurboTax of the rejected return, I got a flag that the date had to be 1) on a business day and 2) at least one day after the e-filing date. I think these rules are new because I always used the e-file day as the date for the withdrawal, even if that was on a weekend, and never had any issues.

E-filed returns are typically accepted within 48 hours, but sometimes the IRS can take longer. The FAQ below will provide more information regarding pending returns. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4193097
