You are confused.  Everyone is preparing and filing a Form 1040. That is the tax form that is sent to the IRS.  You do not "file" a  W-2.  Your W-2 is the Wage and Tax Statement you got from your employer.  It showed the amount of pay you earned and the amounts withheld for tax, Social Security, Medicare, state taxes, etc.  When you entered your information into the software, you entered it from that W-2 into the INCOME section.

If you made a mistake in what you entered--somehow you keyed it in wrong, or left out a second W-2 , etc. you now have to wait until your tax return has been fully processed before you can amend it to fix your mistakes.

100% Confused, I've never done this. So I was accepted for $214.00 but I thought I'd get back 1,087.09 back. Did I screw up? Not sure how this works
