How was that missed by Turbo Tax

Turbotax doesn't know if you haven't entered something.....How could it possibly know that !

You collect all your tax forms together, and you make sure you've entered everything somewhere before you submit your tax files.  You don't rush thru and assume the tax software knows your individual situation...because it doesn't...

There's are many errors that happen thru this software, but the way the Feds look at it, it's still your responsibility. I'd contact TT directly.
