Married filing jointly - accidentally put my Name and SSN on one of my spouse's W2s

My wife changed jobs in Jan 2020, so she had two W2s. When filing, I accidentally filed the W2 from job 1 that covered the first pay period in Jan with my name/ssn. The return was accepted by the IRS and we got the expected refund amount. Do I need to file an amended return with the IRS to correct this?

FWIW, I received a notice that our state return was adjusted, so I already have a process to go through to get it corrected there. I'm mainly wondering about the federal return. Thanks!

The error that was made should not affect the amount of your Federal refund.  However, you may get a tax notice requesting clarification.

The issue would not involve Income Tax, but could affect Social Security and Medicare.

I would hold off for about six months before you file an amended return.  You have until 04/15/2024 to file it.
