Mistakenly said I could be claimed as a dependent. Do i get a stimulus check?

I chose yes when I was asked if I could be claimed, but my parents never claimed me because I have been on my own for more than a year. I misunderstood, this was my first year filing. I read that even if someone was not claimed, if they are able to be they are not eligible for the stimulus check. How can I fix this and get my stimulus check like everyone else? And is filing an amended return an option?

Please go to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus-tax-relief-and-economic-impact-payments for information and qualifications on receiving a stimulus payment. We are not sure if filing an amended income tax return will help you get a stimulus payment.
