Question

My 2018 status was non-resident alien, I filed my 2019 as resident alien on April 10th, and my income is within range. Will I get a stimulus check?

Yes, the IRS will use the information from your most recent return to determine eligibility for the stimulus check. The IRS has not issued an exact date for the disbursement of stimulus payments. If you have filed your 2018 or 2019 return, then you do not need to do anything thing else to receive a qualifying stimulus payment. The IRS will use the information from your tax return to send your payment. Please view this IRS link and use the Get Your Payment application, available mid-April, to check the status of your stimulus payment and update your direct deposit information if necessary.

@KatrinaB48

Hi, we're in a similar situation, but we just filed our tax returns for 2019 as resident alien on May 14. Is there anything we should do to ensure we receive our stimulus check based on our 2019 returns? Thank you.
