My 2024 return Errors

The IRS found an error in my return (this would be Turbo Tax's error, not mine) and changed my return.  My return said on line 6b thatmy Social Security benefit was not taxable ), so my anticipated $4,723 refund became a $5,731.87 amount due.

So assuming the IRS position is correct (which i believe in general terms to b correct),r how is Turbo Tax going to fix this (I merely provided numbers from the applicable forms, Turbo Tax made the determination and completed the form saying my Social Security benefits were not taxable).

It is possible that something changed on your tax return to make  your social security income taxable. I would encourage you to read your IRS notice carefully to better understand the issue.

You can read this article to learn how to file an accuracy guarantee claim with TurboTax.

On a follow-up page after your SSA-1099 entry, the tax software asked if you were a resident of several possible Foreign countries.  IF resident in one of those countries your SS isn't taxed since (I think) the foreign country does so.
