My daughter mistakenly said no one else could claim her... already filed amended return e-file

My daughter filed her taxed before I did. she put she couldn't be claimed as a dependent on another return without knowing I could claim her. I went to file mine and it was rejected since I added her. I didn't know to wait, but I went ahead and filed the 1040x electronically on Turbot ax 2 days later for her return. It is in process status and can take up to 16 weeks.

Should I file my taxes and leave her off then wait until her amended return gets adjusted and file a 1040x on my return? Or should I print and mail mine in with an explanation in hopes when they get it they know I should get the extra $3000 for adding her?

You will not be able to e-file this year. Kids do this a lot. She has put her SSN into the system and no amount of waiting for her return to be amended will permit you to e-file now. Print, sign and mail your own return that claims her as your dependent.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Just print and mail your actual return now. You don't have to wait. You don't have to amend yours. Even if she amends her return it will not release her ssn from the system.
