My father passed away in 2018 and I just received as stimulus check for him his estate is in probate now. So do I deposit it or do I need to return it?

You should return the check. In the top right corner of the envelope that the check came in, there is a box that says if the recipient is deceased check the box and drop it in a mailbox. Check that box and put the envelope with the check in a mailbox.
