Question

My federal efile refund show's 7308,00, why did i only recieve 4200.00?

I am wondering the same thing. I was supposed to get around $ 1500, and now its only $160??

When the IRS changes the refund they will mail a letter of explanation in a couple of weeks.  You can also look online for possible reasons :    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

 

Most likely culprit is the stimulus credit ... if you entered the wrong amount that you got in advance then the return would have been incorrect and the IRS is fixing these errors automatically.  Look at your form 1040 line 30.

@barbarabrock1277       That is not the refund ... that is the third stimulus check ... $1400 x 3 people based on your 2019 or 2020 return.
