MY HUSBAND IS OVER 65, I AM YOUNGER. LAST YEAR IT APPEARS WE FILED BOTH A 1040 AND A 1044SR. IS THAT CORRECT?

IF YOU ARE OVER 65 AND MADE INCOME, ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO FILE A 1040-SR AND A 1040

You only file 1 return.  Are you filing a Joint return or as Married filing Separate?  You only file one return for Joint.  If one spouse is over 65 then Turbo Tax gives you the 1040SR return.  It is exactly the same as the regular 1040 just larger type.  It doesn't matter which 1040 you file.

 

If you are using the Desktop program there is a way to force the one you want.
