My parents automatically have me on their taxes but did not receive any stimulus or return for me since I was 17 and I am having issues with my return getting my stimulus

Dependents are not eligible for the stimulus. If your parents are claiming you, nothing will be added to your return, even if you are over 17.

 

If you claim yourself as independent when you should really be a dependent, there’s a good chance you will have trouble with the IRS. The Service has said it is watching for these types of returns.

 

Generally, if you were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2020, were not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a Social Security number that is valid for employment, you are eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit.
