Question

My parents receive the third stimulus payment because I was their dependent in 2020. How do I fill out my 2021 return. There is no option to select.

Per the turbo tax worksheet. I cannot collect it. There is no option stating that I was a dependent of someone else in 2020 and skip that section.

Good news for you----even if your parents got the $1400 for claiming you in 2020, they do not have to pay it back, and if they cannot claim you for 2021--you do get the $1400 for yourself. Congress left a big loophole in the law that allows it.
