If you haven't filed yet, please follow these steps to change your direct deposit information in TurboTax Online:

    1. Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return.
    2. From the left panel, choose File
    3. Select Start/Revisit/Continue next to Step 2: Your refund/payment info (Note: you will have to complete Step 1 before moving on to Step 2)
    4. Select See all options on the screen Get your refund up to 5 days early
    5. Choose Direct Deposit and follow through the interview questions

If you have already filed, you won't be able to change your direct deposit information.   If the bank kicks the deposit back, then the IRS will issue you a paper check.

What if I am trying to pay the IRS...   Will I get a bill from the IRS if my checking account information is incorrect?

If you schedule a direct debit for the taxes due the debit information will be listed on the Federal Information Worksheet in Part V of the form. The same applies for the state, the scheduled direct debit information will be listed on the State Information Worksheet in Part V of the form.

Please take the steps below to obtain a complete copy of your tax return which would include all worksheets.

    • Sign in to your account (if you haven't already done so), using the same login you used to file your return.
    • Scroll down to My Tax Returns and Documents and click show.
    • Next scroll down and select Add a State (you are not really adding a state, this will allow you to get back into the program.
    • In the left side panel select Tax Tools then select Print Center.
    • Next select Print, save or preview this year's return.
    • Then select the option to print your 2024 federal and state returns. Also select the option to include government and TurboTax worksheets, then select View or print forms.
    • This will allow you to print or view your complete tax file.
    • Once you have finished printing, select Tax Home in the left side bar to return to the home page and click Sign Out in the lower left corner when you are ready to exit the program.

If the account information is not correct, the IRS will bill you, but if you have not made payment by April 15, interest and penalties may apply. You can also make a payment online via IRS.gov.
